The Code of Federal Regulations does not provide a specific retention period though "all grantees and subgrantees must provide for an independent audit of this activity on a periodic basis" (28 CFR33.51). Since a specific retention is not provided the basis three year audit period should be followed (5 CFR 1011). The bureau wants to maintain for five year for administrative purposes. The initial grant and final report documents one project which reflects the movement to curb DUI's in Utah.
