AGENCY: Utah Geospatial Resource Center
SERIES: 27053
TITLE: Sections public land survey system records
DATES: 1992-1993.
ARRANGEMENT: Grouped by file type, thereunder chronological
DESCRIPTION: These geospatial records were collected from a combination of United States Geologic Survey Digital Line Graph (DLG) files, US Forest Service Cartographic Feature Files (CFF) files, and internally digitized data. There are 1548, 1:24,000 quadrangles (7.5 minute quads) covering the state of Utah. In 1992 the State Trust Lands Administration needed a complete source of township and section lines for the entire state. There was no single source of accurate township and section lines available at the time. A way to accurately create ownership information was pursued, by using the above mentioned files. The DLG and CFF data was converted into ARC/INFO coverage format by AGRC. The arcs were coded based on the level of information found on a 1:24,000 quad. Arcs are depicted with thick red lines showing township and thin red lines showing section lines. A solid line depicts found lines and a dashed line indicates a line of unknown location. By early 1993 this data was completed.
